ABOUT US
Formed in 2023, EMPOWER aim to provide further education students with the recourses to develop their emotional resilience. This is such an important skill, particularly in the run up to exam season, and when preparing to journey towards university or work and we recognise the stress, that teachers and further education staff are already under.
So, we have developed a program with the input of senior academics, who work in the mental health field, and sample student groups to ensure that our content is both informative and accessible.
We are a team of coaches, who regularly keep up to date with mental health news and update our material where appropriate. All of our speakers are trained, and DBS checked regularly.
OUR TEAM:
Ellie (She/They)
Director & Coach
Having struggled with my mental health since childhood, I noticed FE was a particularly difficult time for me and a number of students around me. I am proud to say that I have grown and overcome many of these personal barriers but continue working on myself at every opportunity. Using the skills that I have gained; I continuously support others and teach them how to support themselves. Skills which have been recognised by Samaritans, who have recently asked me to be Doncaster branch Director. This is a privilege that I turned down to build EMPOWER, an organisation that I desperately believe can address the dangerous lack of support for FE students. As a coach, I look forward to joining many students in taking their first steps towards self-actualization, and as an individual, I am proud to learn from and grow along-side them.
Wade (He/Him)
Speaker & Coach
I've worked around students for a number of years and have seen just how poor their mental health can be. What better way to combat that, then by joining an organisation who teach better mental health techniques? I'm a keen public speaker and knew I could engage with learners when I was asked to join but I didn't know how much it would mean to see students actively participate and thank you for something they so desperately needed.
Beth (She/Her)
Admin & Coach
After I worked as an operations co-ordinator at a construction start-up, I decided to pivot into a field that I am more passionate about... mental health. Whilst studying for a BA in the field, I had the opportunity to join EMPOWER, which I look forward to bringing my skills and experience to.
Lucy (She/Her)
Digital Media Manager
Whilst obtaining a degree in visual communications, I worked as a creative consultant where I gained a real passion for inclusive content. My main goal at EMPOWER is to make sure that all of the content they produce is both aesthetically appealing and is as accessible as possible. I am proud to say that I work with a company whose aim is to make sure that all students have access to mental health support before it's too late.
